My most recent project

Every summer I try to do a home improvement project. Last summer I redecorated my living room, refinished an old dining table and made slip covers for the chairs. I didn't have time to do any window treatments, so I did them this summer. I built cornices using wood moldings and fabric. I did the actual wood cutting on the back porch, but the construction I did in the house. It's too hot out there! Here are some pics, before, after and during the project.
This is my work area, a cornice in the process of being built.
How do you like my chip clip clamps? It worked.

Dining room, I just need to change out the light fixture,
I have a larger iron one to put there. The chandelier is
going to go over my bathtub (my husband doesn't know that yet.)

We had a wonderful Mother's Day dinner at our home. All of our daughters and daughters-in-law are mothers now, so the men did the dinner...all of it. They each had an assignment, and they all came through. It was so good that we are thinking we should do our monthly family dinner this way every other month!

Josh's Prom

Josh and his very cute date, Brooke.

Some of the parents did a dinner for our kids going to prom, held in an amazing back yard. I was in charge of decorating tables. A talented friend, Brit, made beautiful place mats with the couple's names on them. We had a total of 22 kids.

I have to tell you what we discovered when we got to Alpine. Josh went to pull down the covers on one of the twin beds and found this... The mice had gotten into the wheat in the food storage and had very neatly placed it in that bed as if someone had carefully gotten a large cup full and poured it in a line below the pillow. It was so funny that we had to take pictures, then Josh pulled all the bedding off and washed it. We disposed of the plastic wheat containers that had holes chewed into them. In my mind I picture the little mice from 'Cinderella' carefully going back and forth with their mouths full of that wheat and carefully depositing it in place. These cute little critters have their own favorite places to keep warm and eat. We did find two dead mice, it's almost sad, but really, if they were house trained I wouldn't mind having them scurry around....well, maybe not.

Hubbie got an owie!

Dwight was lifting some heavy blocks at work and one slipped and smashed off the tip of his finger. Here he is in the Urgent Care. He had a couple of stitches to tighten it and stop the bleeding. Don't look too close if you get queasy. It's gross. It didn't take his bone or his nail (yet). He was sent to a hand specialist but was told there was nothing else they could do. He just has to grow a new fingertip. He laughed the whole way through, except when they put it in saline solution to clean it. He said that was a religious experience. I'm just grateful the injury wasn't worse.

Any body need a lighthouse?

Ok, there are some weird things about myself that I can't explain, they are just there. I love making things like this. It was for our New Beginnings for Young Women. It is taller than me and has a lamp in it so it really lights up. It is made from a furniture box, tape, hot glue and paint. I had so much fun making it and really want other people to use it for what ever church thing you might need a light house for. the main part of it unfolds flat, it goes up in less than 5 minutes. Anyway, let me know if you want to borrow it.

Brigham, Casen & Jeramiah

I have been wanting to get a pic of all three grandsons together, it's hard, but Friday night we were together and I got it. I put both in because we could not get a good one of all at once.

Happy New Year!

I love this picture! Londyn is trying to suck on Josh's nose!

We had a fun New Years Party.

I took the girls to Freestone Park to ride the merry-go-round, the train and other rides. We bought popsicles and then went to Chic-fil-A!
